Maharshi Buddharam Degree College, Menda  is one of the leading educational institutions of Subarnapur (Sonepur) district in the State of Odisha. The idea of starting a degree college in this area, although cherished in the minds of many educated and renowned personalities of Menda and it’s near by villages for a long time had given final shape during the year 2016-17. This college was founded on 8th August 2016 by Late Dr.Sadananda Agrawal, a great (Historian,Epigraphist & Musician) and other eminent figures with an objective for empowerment and spread the knowledge in higher education by imparting teaching in Arts stream. All the founder members of this college strive hard to maintain dignity and standard of this institution in academic domain during the course of time it blossomed as a successful degree college.

Though the college is established in a rural area, the needs and goals of people of this locality  for producing a good number of college graduates have been fulfilled. The graduates of this college have excelled in different walks of life in due course of time. The growth of this college to its present shape has been made possible with the financial assistance from eminent public figures and other dignitaries. This college is permanently recognized by Dept.of Higher Education Odisha under Regional Director of Education, Sambalpur. Initially this college was Affiliated by Sambalpur University,Burla  and from the academic session 2020-21 the same is Affiliated by Rajendra University, Balangir in Arts stream with Hons. subjects “Odia, Political Science, History, Economics and Education”.

More so, the geographical location of this college creates illusion of an ancient ‘Gurukula’ located in the foothills of Barapahad devi pitha, in the lap of serene beauty of lush green nature.
